Birth Consulting
This is where it all begins. The journey to parenthood is long, and complex, and you don't know what you don't know! There's so much knowledge I can share with you, but some of the most important work we'll do together is supporting you in discerning your own values and preferences. What do you want to feel a few hours after your baby is born? What are you most afraid of losing in the early months of parenthood? Which birth stories have inspired you, and which have scared you? Then we pair that with my broad knowledge, and localized experience to set you up for a powerful, positive experience! With birth consults, you're in control of both your financial budget, and your brain budget: we can do one deep dive session on the topic that's keeping you up at night, or meet twice a week for a few months practicing various potential scenarios.
Birth consulting is billed at $95/hour. In-person sessions are 1.5-2 hours. Phone sessions are 1 hour.

Birth Doula
What does a doula DO anyway?
Having a baby is exciting! You deserve someone to remind you that you don't always have to take all of this so seriously, someone to help you celebrate, and enjoy yourself!
Having a baby is tough! You deserve someone with the tools, techniques, and training to help you keep going. Someone you trust to look you in the eye, and remind you, "Yes, this is normal. Yes! You can do this!"
I don't answer to your care providers, your insurance company, or your parents: I answer to you! We'll discuss and devise a plan for supporting you emotionally and physically during your birth. Whether you want intense physical support to avoid medical pain relief and other interventions, help planning how to make your epidural as effective as possible, or advice on preparing for your scheduled cesarean, your preferences will be trusted and honored every step of the way.
What about my support team, friends, and family? Do I need a doula if I have them?
How will you serve my whole team?
Your support team (partner(s), family, friends, whoever!) will always have someone to turn to if they're unsure of what's going on or how to help you, or are feeling anxious about the process. With me there to offer suggestions and guidance as needed, the emotional bond you share with your loved ones will be combined with proven labor support techniques. If you have pets in your family, and have questions or concerns about managing the transition of adding a new baby, know a little forethought and planning can go a long way toward an optimal outcome, and it's a passion of mine to help you make this transition as easy, and fun for your pets as possible, too. I recommend making this discussion a part of our consultations and prenatal and postnatal visits.
You can learn more about the history of doulas, and their role in birth by watching this video from my certifying body, DONA International (CW: a lot of gendered language around birthing people. DONA has come a long way, but this is an old video).
What if I don't live in NYC?
If you feel I'm the right fit for you, and you understand the limitations of a satellite doula (I haven't figured out how to offer comforting touch over wifi yet!), I can be on call, and zoom in when you're in labor, providing the same real time continuous care as I do locally (fully virtual clients receive a $500 discount on birth support to reflect the limitations of the support I can provide, and the higher amount of sleep I'm able to get when I doula from my own home). If you're in the tristate area, but delivering in NYC, we can do our prenatals virtually, or you can cover the cost of a car service to your home for one in-person visit. I'll join you in labor at your birthing location.

My fee for this birth doula support package is $2500, and includes:
~2 approximately 1.5-2-hour prenatal appointments
~unlimited phone and e-mail support
~On call from 37 weeks, or earlier, if your care provider has reason to think your baby will come sooner
~in person support for labor and birth and the immediate postpartum period
~1 1.5-2 hours postnatal appointment

Postpartum Doula
Ok, I'll bite. What does a postpartum doula do?
Having a doula by your side in the weeks leading up to, and during your birth is great! But you may find letting your doula walk out the door never to return just when you're saddled with a tiny person with huge needs is kind of a bummer. Never fear! I can be your postpartum doula, too! As a postpartum doula , I join you in your home for three to four shifts one to five days a week to support you in your transition to parenthood. This can look like...
~Talking with you about your experiences with birth and early parenthood and helping you process them
~Holding and soothing your baby so you can take a nap or shower
~Grocery shopping, and cooking you a nourishing meal, and prepping snacks for when you've only got one hand to eat
~Providing a listening ear and evidence-based resources to help you work out how you want to parent your baby
~Brainstorming solutions to your postpartum struggles, from a place of experience and expertise
~Doing light housekeeping, such as putting in a load of laundry, washing dishes, or pet care
~Going with you and baby to appointments or errands
~And, of course, keeping your spirits up with warmth and humor to help you stay focused on the joy of this precious time, while acknowledging and validating your struggles with the tougher parts
Being a new parent is kind of like being a doula: it's all about being flexible and thinking on your feet. We'll work together to tailor each session to your family's unique needs that day.
Intrigued? Scared to commit? Ok. Before I make you commit to four shifts at a time, you can book a single one-off session to get a feel for what this work is like. We can optimize your home for infant care, brainstorm how the fuck you're supposed to get enough sleep with this new creature in your life, make a meal plan for the next couple months, or make a pot of tea and take all four hours just to talk about how this is WILD and BEAUTIFUL and BRUTAL and not AT ALL what you were expecting even though you read EVERY BOOK and PLEASE CAN I CRY NOW (yes, yes you can. And then we'll talk about how to make it fun).
Want it? Yeah, you do!
Postpartum support is $75 an hour, and is booked in 16-hour increments.
